WOW....what a day!!! The day of my eye operation!!
I took the kids to daycare then went and organised printing my photos out to submit in a local competition. Then it was time to embark on my trip up to have the implantable contact lens put in my right eye!
My admission time was 1215 and I got there just after 12. They probably didn't take me through until after 1230. Then I sat and waited....and waited...and waited......then they started putting drops in my eye to dilate my pupil. There were 4 lots of drops put in over the period of about an hour and a half. I didn't actually go into the theatre until just before 3pm! and I was STARVING!!!! The paperwork they had given me said to have a "light" breakfast then nothing else but water until after the op :-S Apparantly these directions were incorrect and I should've had lunch!!!
Anyway, they completely numbed my eye for the operation so all I could feel was sensations of pressure and cold...and STINGING!!!! The actual op took about 15 minutes and then they gave me some sandwiches YAY!!! They rang MrJ to come and pick me up. So he went and picked the boys up from daycare, took them home and cleaned them up, then came to get me. It was almost 430 when they turned up.
The plan was to go to Kings Park so MasterJ could play and we would get something to eat at the restaurant there........turns out it was closed for renovations. So we headed into HJ's in Subi!!
My check-up appointment was at 7pm in Westminster, so we headed over there to do some more waiting!!! The boys were great. MasterJ sat and watched a whole movie, while MasterA kept all the sunglass wearing patients entertained. The Dr checked my right eye, put some more drops in and then put drops in my left eye so he could do the iridotomy in preparation for my left eye implant in 2 weeks time. Then....we waited some more :-S. It was 9pm before he did my iridotomy then we were able to head home!
We arrived back home at about 10pm and dragged the very sleepy boys out of the car and to bed. I put more drops in my eye, covered it with the shield and headed to bed - EXHAUSTED!!!
On my way to my appointment it dawned on me that I hadn't taken my PAD. So I pulled my iPhone out and snapped a pic on the corner of a street in Perth. Not a bad picture for my iPhone!!
